Cookie Policy
Last updated: March 27, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how MythScribe AI (“MythScribe AI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit or use the MythScribe AI platform, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). This policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) by websites that you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, improve efficiency, provide a better user experience, and supply information to site owners. Cookies may be “session” cookies (which are deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” cookies (which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).
In addition to cookies, we also use local storage, a similar technology that allows websites to store data in your browser. Local storage data persists until explicitly cleared by the website or by you through your browser settings.
2. Types of Cookies We Use
2.1 Essential Cookies
Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function. They enable core functionality such as authentication, security, and session management. Without these cookies, the Service cannot operate properly. These cookies cannot be disabled.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
authjs.session-token | Maintains your authenticated session so you remain signed in as you navigate the Service | Session / 30 days | MythScribe AI (NextAuth) |
authjs.csrf-token | Provides Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) protection for form submissions and authentication requests | Session | MythScribe AI (NextAuth) |
authjs.callback-url | Stores the URL to redirect you to after completing the authentication flow (e.g., returning to the page you were on before signing in) | Session | MythScribe AI (NextAuth) |
__stripe_mid | Stripe fraud prevention identifier used during payment processing | 1 year | Stripe |
__stripe_sid | Stripe session identifier used during active payment sessions | 30 minutes | Stripe |
2.2 Functional Cookies (Local Storage)
Functional cookies and local storage items remember your choices and preferences to provide a more personalized experience. These are not strictly necessary but enhance your use of the Service.
| Storage Key | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
sidebar:state | Remembers whether the navigation sidebar is open or collapsed | Persistent (until cleared) | MythScribe AI |
chat-model | Remembers your selected AI chat model preference | Persistent (until cleared) | MythScribe AI |
theme | Remembers your light/dark mode preference | Persistent (until cleared) | MythScribe AI |
2.3 Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the Service by collecting and reporting information. This data helps us improve the Service, identify popular features, and detect issues. Analytics data is collected in anonymized or aggregated form where possible.
| Cookie / Script | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ahrefs Analytics script | Collects anonymized page view data, referral sources, device and browser information, and geographic region to help us understand site traffic and usage patterns | Session | Ahrefs |
2.4 Third-Party Cookies
Third-party cookies are set by services other than MythScribe AI that are integrated into the Service. We use these services for payment processing, security, and authentication.
| Cookie / Technology | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
Stripe cookies (__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid) | Fraud detection and prevention during payment processing. These cookies help Stripe identify potentially fraudulent transactions and protect your payment information. | Varies (30 min to 1 year) | Stripe |
Google reCAPTCHA (_GRECAPTCHA, rc::a, rc::b, rc::c) | Bot detection and abuse prevention on registration and login forms. Helps distinguish between human users and automated bots. | Varies (session to 6 months) | |
| Google OAuth cookies | Used during the Google sign-in flow to authenticate your identity. These cookies are set by Google when you choose to sign in with your Google account. | Session |
3. How to Manage Cookies
3.1 Browser Settings
Most web browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. You can typically:
- View all cookies stored on your device
- Delete some or all cookies
- Block all cookies or only third-party cookies
- Set your browser to notify you when a cookie is being set
- Clear local storage data
Instructions for managing cookies in popular browsers:
Important: If you disable essential cookies (such as the authentication session cookie), you will not be able to sign in to or use the Service. Disabling functional cookies will cause the Service to forget your preferences (theme, sidebar state, chat model), but will not prevent you from using the Service. Disabling analytics cookies will have no impact on your use of the Service.
3.2 Opt-Out Links
You can opt out of specific third-party tracking using the following methods:
- Ahrefs Analytics: You can block the Ahrefs analytics script by using a browser extension that blocks tracking scripts (such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger), or by configuring your browser to block third-party scripts from
analytics.ahrefs.com. - Stripe: Stripe cookies are used for fraud prevention during payment processing and cannot be opted out of if you wish to make payments through the Service. Stripe cookies are only active during payment interactions.
- Google reCAPTCHA: reCAPTCHA cookies are used for security purposes on authentication forms. Blocking these may prevent you from registering or signing in.
4. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites indicating that you do not want to be tracked. There is currently no universally accepted standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. At this time, MythScribe AI does not respond to DNT signals in a different way than our standard practices described in this Cookie Policy. However, we respect your privacy choices and encourage you to use the cookie management options described in Section 3 to control your tracking preferences.
We will continue to monitor the development of DNT standards and may update our practices if a uniform standard is adopted.
5. Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We recognize and honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out request for the sale or sharing of personal information under applicable state privacy laws (such as the CCPA/CPRA). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we will treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. Note that MythScribe AI does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, our practices, legal requirements, or the cookies we use. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes (such as introducing new categories of cookies or new third-party tracking), we will provide notice through the Service or by email.
We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies.
